Pre-Race Queries

Can I enter after online entry has closed?

All entries are online, closing date for online entry is 1st May, or when event sells out, if before.

There will be NO sign ups at registration or on race day.

Are there any age restrictions?

The minimum age for the 6-Mile race or leg of the Relay Marathon is 16yrs. 

The minimum age for the Half Marathon and the Full Marathon is 18yrs.

The Children’s Run for Fun has distance for ages;

Junior & Senior Infants – 1km,

1st, 2nd & 3rd Class – 1.5km

4th,5th & 6th Class – 2km.

Is the route Athletics Ireland certified?

Yes, the Full Marathon, Half Marathon and 6-Mile  routes are Athletics Athletics Ireland certified.

Can I add Race Number Postage to my order?

Yes – Postage closes 3 weeks before the event.

Use the link under  ‘Manage Your Bookings’ in your booking confirmation email.  There is an option to ‘Buy Additional Purchases’.  Race Number Postage is one of the options you can select.  A payment link will be automatically sent.  Use the link to pay the outstanding amount.  Postage will then be added to your order.  

When will my race packet be posted out to me ?

If you opted for Race Number Postage when registering, or have added it as an additional purchase, you can expect your Race Pack to  arrive between 14 and 3 days prior to the event.  If your race number has not arrived by the Friday before the event, you will need to collect a replacement number from the UL Sports Arena on Saturday 4th May between 11.00am – 4:00pm. 

If you did not opt for Number Postage, you must collect your race number from the UL Sports Arena on Sat 4th May between 11:00am – 4:30pm. 

THERE WILL BE NO NUMBER COLLECTION ON RACE DAY.

Number postage can be added to your order up to 31st March.  Simply click on the ‘Manage Your Bookings’ link in your booking confirmation email and select ‘Buy Additional Purchases’.  Select ‘Number Postage’ and a payment link to be automatically sent by email.

What is included in my race entry?

Entry includes your race bib with timing chip, a full ‘closed road’ course with great atmosphere and professional organisation,  finisher’s medal, T-shirt, water at the aid stations and water, a banana and goodies at the finish line.  

Why do I need an AAI one-day licence?

This is an AAI certified event.  All non-AAI members participating in permitted Athletics Ireland recreational events are required to purchase a €2 one-day licence (ODL).  All revenue generated through this initiative will directly support the delivery of the AAI high-performance programme. 

Can I change distance?

Yes, you can change your race distance up until 31st March, using the link ‘Manage Your Bookings’ in your booking confirmation email.  If you wish to change up to a longer distance, a payment link will be sent via email.  Use the link to settle the outstanding balance and once done, you will receive a new booking confirmation email stating the new distance.  

What time do the races start?
Marathon and Marathon Relay runners will commence at 9:00am.   Half Marathon will start at 10.30am.  6-Mile will start at 12.30pm 

Children’s Run for Fun

Saturday 4th – Wheelchair event on track – 2:30pm – Junior & Senior Infants – 1km route 3:00pm – First, Second & Third Class – 1.5km route 3:45pm – Fourth, Fifth & Sixth Class – 2km route 4:30pm
Can I take part as a Walker?

We do not encourage walking the Marathon because of time constraints.  Rather, we encourage walkers to participate in the 6-Mile or Half Marathon events. 

What do I do if my race number doesn't arrive?

Firstly , check that you did opt for race number postage.  You can check this by looking at your booking confirmation email.  It will show on your ticket along with  your AAI licence and any other additional purchases.  

If you did not opt for race number postage, you can add postage to you order up until 31st March.  See ‘Can I add Race Number Postage to my Order?’

If you did not opt for postage and do not add it to your order, you will need to collect your race number from the UL Sports Arena on Saturday 4th May between 11:00am-4:30pm.

If you did opt for race number postage and it has not arrived by the Friday before the event, you will need to collect a new race number from the the UL Sports Arena on Saturday 4th May, between 11:00am-4:30pm.

What happens if the event is cancelled/postponed/rescheduled?

Should the event be postponed due to occurrences outside the control of the event organiser, the event organiser reserves the right to reschedule the event to a future date.  Those registered for the event will be accommodated on the rescheduled event date.  If the rescheduled event date does not suit the individuals needs, the event organiser will offer a deferral to the next year’s event or refund the ticket price up to 3 months preceding the new event date.  No refunds will be accommodated 3 months from the rescheduled event date.  If any of the above applies to your situation, please contact info@greatlimerickrun.com

Race Day Queries

Do I have to go to registration?

If you have opted to have your race number posted to you, you do not need to attend registration at UL Sports Arena on Sat 4th May  between 11:00am – 4:30pm.

If you did NOT opt for race number postage, or your race number has not arrived by Fri 3rd May, you will need to go to registration and collect your race number.  There will be no race number collection on race day. 

Where can I park?
As the race will be taking place on a Sunday, all on-street parking will be free, however please observe signage as parking is restricted in some areas because of the route.
 
Alternative options to on-street parking would be the multi-story car parks in the city centre, including:
Q-Park Harvey’s Quay
Arthurs Quay Shopping Centre.

Will there be pacers?

Yes.  There will be pacers running at a finish time of;

Full Marathon – 3:00hrs, 3:15hrs, 3:30hrs, 3:45hrs, 4:00hrs, 4:30hrs and 5:00hrs.

Half Marathon – 1:30hrs, 1:40hrs, 1:50hrs, 2:00hrs and 2:10hrs.

 

Are timing chips used?

Yes.  Timing chips are used. 

Full/Relay Marathon: Splits are taken at 10km, half-way, and 30km.

Half Marathon/6-Mile: Chip times are taken at start and finish.

Relay Marathon: Note – Overall times will be issued for the entire course with splits as details above.  Each runner does not have their own split times.

Is there a course cut-off time?

Yes.  The course closes at 3:00pm.  The first half of the course closes at 12:00noon.

Is there a Bag Drop?

Yes.  There will be a bag drop facility.  Exact details will be communicated in your race brief which will be sent 14 days prior to the event.

Will there be Toilets?

Yes, there will be toilets at the start line on Pery Square and at the finish line.  There will also be toilets along the route.  You can see these on the route maps here:

Will there be water stations?

There will be water stations on the routes at:

Full/Relay Marathon: Miles 3, 6, 8.5, 12, 17.5, 20, 22, 23.5, 25.5.

Half Marathon: Miles 2,4.5, 7, 9, 10.5, 12.5.

6-Mile: Miles 1.5, 2.5, 5.5.

 

 

 

Can I use public transport to get to the start?

The race starts in Pery Square in front of St Michael’s Church.

Can a friend/family member run part of the race with me?

No.  Under no circumstances can anyone not registered, including a child, join the course.  Our priority is to keep everyone safe and by doing this, injury to both runners and children is difficult to avoid.  This includes children/babies in buggies.

What are the rules of the race?

The rules are to ensure that everyone enjoys a fun, safe and fair event!

1.  Please obey the Stewards and Gardai at all times.

2.  Please keep to the course cut-off time deadlines.

3.  Do not take any shortcuts off the course.  You are only cheating yourself.

4.  Runners must have their number clearly visible on the front of their running top.

5.  Runners who finish the race without a number will not receive a finisher’s medal.  There will be no exceptions to this.

6.  Outside assistance is not allowed .  You may carry your own food or drink but support from cars or bikes is strictly prohibited.  This is in the interest of safety and of giving everyone an equal chance.

7. It is not permitted to run with a buggy.

8.  Do not leave valuables in bags left at the bag drop.  The organisers cannot accept responsibility for lost, stolen or mislaid bags.

9.  It is the responsibility of participants to know the route and change over points.

10.  You must register and sign the waiver to be part of the race.  Failure to do so will result in forfeiting the race.  

What do I get at the finish line?

All finishers will receive a finishers medal, refreshment, and the elation of having completed a remarkable event on a memorable day in a true sporting city.

Post Race Queries

Where can I find my results?

Results will be published on the website within 24 hours.

If I don't make the event will my Medal / T-Shirt be posted to me?

No.  Unfortunately, this is not possible.  To receive your finishers medal and T-shirt, you must attend and collect in person.  We are not able to post anything out after the event.

Will prizes be awarded

Full Marathon Rules & Prizes

  1. Prizes are awarded individually and equally in Male and Female categories.
  2. There must be 3 or more entries to constitute a prize-winning category.
  3. Age qualification as at event day.
  4. Age category applied as per date of birth supplied.
  5. Incorrect category assignment must be highlighted prior to race day.
  6. The Regeneron Great Limerick Run operates a ‘one person, one prize’ policy.
  7. Participants in the Regeneron Great Limerick Run who are placed in more than one category are awarded the prize of greater value.
  8. Placings will be awarded on gun time not chip time. i.e. whoever crosses the line first wins (not their chip time).
  9. All bonus payments will be in addition to any prize money.
  10. Times used will be as supplied by the official race timer on the day.
  11. Time bonus are non-cumulative.

Example 1: If a male runner aged under 35 finishes in 4th place in a time of 2hrs 16mins and 52seconds the bonus assigned will be the sub 2:17 bonus of €600 in total. No placed prize money is paid as only positions 1,2&3 receive placing prize money.

Example 2: If a female athlete finishes in second place in a time of 2hrs 40mins and 20seconds, then the following prize will be presented (second overall is €750) and (sub 2:41 is €300) making the Total prize value €1050.

Time Bonus (Male): As follows:

Time Bonus are awarded to Irish Athletes only. Irish Athletes are defined as holders of valid Irish Passport at time of event.

Half Marathon Rules & Prizes

  1. Prizes are awarded individually and equally in Male and Female categories.
  2. There must be 3 or more entries to constitute a prize-winning category.
  3. Age qualification as at event day.
  4. Age category applied as per Date of Birth supplied.
  5. Incorrect category assignment must be highlighted prior to race day. This is viewable on the website.
  6. The Regeneron Great Limerick Run operates a ‘one person, one prize’ policy.
  7. Participants in the Regeneron Great Limerick Run who are placed in more than one category are awarded the prize of greater value.

Relay Marathon Rules & Prizes

  2. A team can consist of between 2 and 4 team members.
  3. Incorrect category assignment must be highlighted prior to race day.

The Fittest Company

There are categories for micro, small, medium, and large companies, as determined by number of employees. You will be competing against other companies of similar size and plaques will be awarded to the first 3 places in each category.

Will there be race photos?

Yes.  Official race photos will be provided by Marathon Photos Live.  Photos will be available on the website after the event.  Participants will receive a personalised link to access photos/Race Finish Certificate.

  

Can I get a refund?

No.  Refunds or transfers to other events are not possible under any circumstances – unless the race does not take place. See ‘What happens if the event is cancelled / postponed / rescheduled?

Relay Marathon Queries

Where are the change over points?

Changeover points will occur at the following points: mile 6, mile 12.5 and mile 20.5.

The 6 mile point is located across from Milford Credit Union on Plassey Park road.

The 12.5 mile point is at Johns square.

The 20.5 mile point is outside Dunnes Stores on Henry street.

The final reunion point will be at The Strand Hotel on the Ennis road.

 

 

 

Are all four legs the same distance??

Leg 1: start to 6 mile point = 6 miles.

Leg 2: mile 6 to mile 12.5 = 6.5 miles.

Leg 3: mile 12.5 to mile 20.5 = 8 miles.

Last Leg: mile 20.5 to mile 26 = 5.5 miles.

 

 

Will each runner have their own split?

No. Overall times will be issued for the entire course with splits at 10km, half-way and 30km.

 Each runner does not get their own split times.

Are Busses provided?

Yes. Buses will transport team members into position for leg 2. Buses will depart from the Tourist Office at Arthurs Quay at 8:30am and at 8:45am. Also buses will return team members that finish at leg 2 to the city centre.

Where is the reunion point?

The Relay Team re-union point is at The Strand Hotel on the Ennis road.

Do all team members receive a T-Shirt?

Yes. These will be posted with race numbers if you opt for race number postage, or can be collection at number collection on Sat 4th May at the UL Sports Arena between 11:00am-4:30pm.

Children's Fun Run Queries

What time does the race start?

Will there be advice or training plans provided?

Training plans will be made available and posted on the website to support all children and their families.  Support will also be available through participating primary schools.

Can I run with my child?

We encourage a parent/older sibling/ minder to run with children from junior infants, senior infants, 1st Class and 2nd Class.  Children from 3rd-6th Class will run by themselves.
