Children's Fun for Fun

The Children’s Run for Fun at the Regeneron Great Limerick Run 2023 will take place on Saturday the April 30th 2023.

This fun event is organised by Regeneron Great Limerick Run in conjunction with Limerick Sports Partnership and the HSE.

This year four waves (1 wheelchair and three others) will take place at the University of Limerick, details listed below. There is a limit of 1000 children for each wave

Starting Times and Distance for each event

2:30pm – Wheelchair event on track

3.00pm – Junior & Senior Infants – 1km route

3.45pm – First, Second & Third Class – 1.5km route

4:30pm – Fourth, Fifth & Sixth Class – 2km route

All of the runs are off-road, starting at the GAA pitch beside the running track and finishing on the running track.

Mums/Dads/minders are welcome to join their children for the first two runs.

The cost of entry is €15 per child.

If postage option is not selected, you must collect your race pack from UL Arena on the day of the race, Saturday April 29th between 11am – 2pm. All participants will also receive a finisher’s medal on the day. Water will be available on site

There will be a 1km jog/walk for junior and senior infants, a 1.5km jog/walk for 1st, 2nd & 3rd  class, a 2km run/jog for 4th, 5th & 6th class.

Training programmes will be made availble and posted on the website to support all children and their families. Support will also be available through participating primary schools.

We encourage a parent/older sibling/minder to run with children from junior infants, senior infants, 1st class and 2nd class. Children from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class will run by themselves.

Should the event be postponed due to occurrences outside the control of the event organiser, the event organiser reserves the right to reschedule the event to a future date. Those registered for the event will be accommodated on the rescheduled event date. If the rescheduled event date does not suit the individuals needs the event organiser will offer a deferral to the next year’s event or refund the ticket price up to 3 months preceding the new event date.
